![]() ![]() OneNote has been part of the Microsoft Office family since Office 2003, and every new version of Office since has had a new version of OneNote. This version also has a more traditional Office ribbon, which I much prefer. In OneNote 2016, the notebooks are on the left, the sections appear as tabs along the top of the page and the pages within each section are on the right (though you can change that). The ‘ribbon’ at the top is quite simple and lacks some of the features you will find in the ribbon of most other Office products today. To switch between notebooks you use the dropdown menu above the sections column. In the Windows 10 version below, notice how the Sections and the Pages are on the left-hand side of the page. If you are not sure what version of Microsoft OneNote you have, here are a few screenshots that may help: OneNote 2016 was not included in new installs until February 2020, after which it was included as well. You might see both listed in the Start Menu of a new Windows PC, like the image below.Īt the time of writing, OneNote for Windows 10 comes with all new Windows 10 installs. The two versions are called OneNote for Windows 10 (UWP) and OneNote 2016 (for Office), the latter sometimes just being called OneNote. On Windows, there are two different versions of Microsoft OneNote! What’s more, it’s possible you could have both of these versions sitting on the same computer. You can access all your notes on whatever platform you’re working on, such as a PC a work, your Samsung phone on the way home and your Mac when you get home. The good news is that despite this, each version syncs seamlessly with all the others. It is important to note that the Mac, iOS and Android versions do not have the same functionality as each other or the Windows versions, though there’s nothing new about that situation. Obviously if you have a Mac, then you can only use the Mac version and same for IOS or Android devices of course. There is also a version of OneNote to suit Android devices and still another when you open OneNote on your Browser at. There is a OneNote version for an Apple Mac and then one for your IOS device. Disabling the Enable Beta features option will return OneNote to the previous design.You may or may not be aware that there are different versions of Microsoft OneNote currently available depending partly upon the device you are using. If you change your mind, you can return to the Settings icon in the notebook List. Restart the OneNote app for iOS for the changes to take effect. In the Settings dialog box, go to OneNote Preview and switch Enable Beta Features to ON. In the pane that appears, go to the end of the list of notebooks and then select Settings. ![]() Select the Show Notebook List button options icon in the upper-left corner. Unchecking the Enable Beta features option will return OneNote to the previous design. If you change your mind, you can return to the setting from Preferences in the Menubar. Restart OneNote for Mac for the changes to take effect. In General, go to OneNote Preview and check the box next to the Enable Beta features option. In the Preferences dialogue box, select General. In the app menu bar, go to OneNote > Preferences. Go to the App Store, search for the OneNote app, and then select Update. To follow this procedure, make sure that you have installed the most recent version of OneNote. Tab to Options, and then disable the Enable Beta features option to return OneNote to the previous design. If you change your mind, you can return to previous design by opening the Notebooks pane (Ctrl+G) and tabbing to reach the Settings menu. Restart OneNote for Windows 10 for the changes to take effect. Tab through option items until you reach the OneNote Beta toggle switch, then press Enter to toggle ON. Press Enter to open the Settings pane, press Tab to go to the Options item, and then press Enter. Press the Tab key repeatedly to browse the options in the Navigate pane until you reach the Settings button. Press Shift+Tab once to go to the Navigate button, then press Enter. Use the F6 key to move through regions in OneNote until you reach the Home tab in the ribbon. Press the Down Arrow until you hear "OneNote: Windows app", not "OneNote 2016". ![]() Press the Windows key to open the Start menu and then type OneNote. Go to the Microsoft Store, search for the OneNote app, and then select Update. Important: It's a good idea to install the most recent version of OneNote before you start one of the procedures in this article. ![]()
